Naruto is an ongoing Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto with an anime adaptation. The plot tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a loud, hyperactive, unpredictable, adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village that is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot that Kishimoto first authored in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.

The manga was first published by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd issue of Japan's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine and it is still being released with forty-four volumes. The manga would be later adapted into an anime produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo network and the anime satellite television network Animax on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted nine seasons, while Naruto: Shippūden, a sequel of the series, began its first on February 15, 2007 and is still airing.

The story begins with the commotion in the Leaf Village (Konoha) caused by a monstrous Nine-Tail Fox (Kyuubi). The Kyuubi was sealed inside a baby boy. And the person who sealed the Kyuubi inside the baby boy and was perished because of the usage of a forbiden sealing technique for sealing the fox was the fourth Hokage of Konoha (Yodaime Hokage). The baby boy was Naruto. Naruto grow without family and he was not recognised in the Konoha because the Kyubi was sealed in him.

For recognition from the villagers Naruto plans on becoming the Hokage of the village. As the the first step of being Hokage Naruto enters the Ninja Academy. And he continued his academy life until he became a Genin. Then he was assigned to the team of three ninjas with Sasuke and Sakura. The team was led by a well known copy ninja Hatake Kakashi.

The story goes on with missions until the Chunin Exams. The purpose of the exam was to find capable ninja leaders. During this exam another ninja with the sealed monster inside appears. He was Gaara who got a one tailed monster racoon also known as Shukaku (Ichibi). Then there is also the appearance of two Legendary Sannins trained by the third Hokage himself. One of them was Orochimaru who desires Sasuke, the decendent of Uchiha Clan with the Bloodline Limit of Sharingan as his next body where Orochimaru can pass on his mind to another body to keep on living for eternity. The other Sannin was Jiraiya who later on helps Naruto with his training and teaches Naruto how to extract the Kyubi's Chakra.

During the Exams Konoha was under attack due Orochimaru's plot. And the Hokage was perished in the fight as he used the same forbiden technique when trying to seal Orochimaru's soul. Then the story continues with the search for the third sannin,Tsunade the grandchild of the first Hokage. Then after Tsunade becomes the fifth hokage, Naruto goes on more missions. Then because of his vengence on his brother Sasuke turns to the dark side and go to Orochimaru with the craving for power. Naruto tries to stop him but he fails. After that he goes for a three year training with Jiraiya. Then Naruto Shipunden starts!!!
